Facebook considers giving up and becoming TikTok

Facebook is planning some big changes to try and keep its users from jumping to rival social platforms like TikTok — changes that sound dubiously similar to becoming a TikTok clone. Facebook head Tom Alison announced today that the platform will begin testing a “reimagined experience” later this year that will put a subset of users into a “full-screen video the moment they open the app.

Meta settles its blockbuster trial for up to $17bn

Then, on August 26th, Meta and the attorneys-general filed a settlement agreement. In it Meta agrees to pay almost $12bn, and as much as $17bn, in damages over the next ten years. The company has also agreed to various ways in which it will now restrict use of Facebook and Instagram in the states with which it has settled.
