By Frank Pingue Dec 8 (Reuters) - LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil has said informal conversations between the Saudi-funded circuit and the PGA Tour are continuing but any hope of ending the sport's longest-running civil war is not currently on the horizon.

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy was rather blunt when discussing LIV Golf's future and place in golf at CNBC's CEO Council Forum.

Both admit they would like to see unification between the two tours, but don't believe it'll happen soon, if at all.

Laurie Canter is giving up a chance to play on the PGA Tour to join Saudi-funded LIV Golf. The Englishman earned a PGA Tour card as one of the 10 leading players from the European tour who were not already exempt.
