Many residents in Northern California got a MyShake alert Thursday morning about a 5.9 earthquake in western Nevada, but the USGS confirms it was a false alarm and there was no earthquake. Lava spewed from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano on Saturday, December 6, footage from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) captured. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said the north vent of the volcano had shown heightened activity and "increasing spattering events" while the south vent had a moderate glow overnight.
